A fourth generation family firm, PTL was established in Glasgow in 1905 as a timber importer and merchant, trading in hardwoods and softwoods. In 1994 PTL moved to larger, purpose built premises in Elliot Street, Glasgow, where they are today. The premises comprise modern offices and a 1700 sq m warehouse, where PTL holds extensive stocks for immediate delivery to customers throughout the country.

The current team is headed up by Russell Paterson, who took over as managing director in 1992 when his father Tommy retired. Chris Mennie and David Taylor deal with customer enquiries whilst Stuart Hyslop, Neil McLean and Stephen O’Neill head up the production function within the company.

Taken together, the PTL management team has well over a century of timber trade experience. This knowledge and expertise allows the company to offer customers a ‘sizes to give’ selection service – a major bonus to customers when ordering expensive hardwood species. A sustainable business in every sense!
