A THERMALLY MODIFIED HARDWOOD

Durawood is an African hardwood that has undergone Thermal Modification as Thermo-D (D for Durability). Exposed to 200°C of steam, heat and pressure, the internal cell structure of the timber is altered to improve stability and durability. As no chemicals are used the process merely enhances and improves the timbers natural properties.

Technical Information:

  • Durability - BS EN 350-2 Class 2, suitable for exterior usage (above ground) in BS EN 335 Use Class 3 Applications (this class includes Joinery, Furniture and Cladding)

  • Stability - ideal for high performance timber applications

  • Density - Approximately 325 kg/m3 at a moisture content of 8% making it a light weight solution

  • Appearance - Virtually knot free and 90% straight grained with a subtle grain like Teak or Iroko

Applications:

  • Cladding, sidings and facades - ideal choice due to dimensional stability, attractive appearance and durability

  • Windows, doors & gates - perfect for high-performance windows, doors and gates due to low thermal conductivity

  • Louvres - Light weight, wider boards make it a great choice
